Dies irae

Dies Irae is a medieval Latin hymn of the 13th century,  attributed to Tommaso da Celano.  The hymn is describing the Last Judgment,  and was sung as the sequence in requiem masses.

pietas (εὐσέβεια eusebeia); reverence for God,  piety

flammis acribus; "pungent flame" is the burning flame of sulfur in the lake of fire and sulfur(Revelation 21:8),  especially refers to the pungent smell of sulfur dioxide(SO2).
